Management has finally OK’d my leave request
Six months after making my verbal request, my manager has at last OK’d my request to take an unpaid leave of absence from work for much of next winter. They said that while the higher ups were generally supportive of my request they’d asked that I stay at work until late November to help prepare an annual government document. I’d requested leave starting Nov. 1 because I hate November in Toronto but I’ll take what I can get. And it turns out what I can get is December, January, February, March, April and May somewhere warm. Sold.
Thou shalt use vacation days for part of the leave
The higher ups also wanted me to use vacation days either at the beginning or end of my leave. My manager didn’t know what that was about but I’ve done some thinking and suppose they just don’t want me using my stash of 30+ paid vacation days before November, to reduce the amount of overall time I’ll be away. Again, I’ll take what I can get.
